Foods On Lamma Island

Because of the heritage of Lamma as a working fishing island there is no shortage of seafood restaurants on the island. Combined with the Cantonese love of fresh seafood and it is not hard to imagine how Lamma has become a go-to place for a seafood dinner.

There a large number of restaurants both at Yung Shue Wan and at Sok Kwu Wan, and both have a main street with a range of seafood restaurants.  If Seafood is the main reason for your visit then Sok Kwu Wan will provide all your needs, but if you are interested in a wider range of cuisine and have more time then Yung Shue Wan while give you more choices.

Here are a few well known choices.

Sok Kwu Wan

Rainbow Seafood Restaurant - Probably the best known seafood restaurant on the island the Rainbow is well known to visitors from Hong Kong and beyond. With two branches in the village, both close to the ferry pier, and their own free private ferry shuttling to Central Hong Kong this is one of the few Chinese restaurants on the island where it is possible to make a telephone booking to reserve a table, and all in English.

Wai Kee Seafood Restaurant - Located near the Tin Hau temple is another of the many Seafood restaurants.

International Cuisine

7th Avenue - Located in Yung She Wan with outdoor tables this restaurant and bar offers a choice of local and international beers and light meals to go with music and conversation. Manu special events are held for artists or themes. Located near the pier and beside Bali Resort.

The Island Bar - A hot spot for the resident expatriates this small bar next to the Yung She Wan pier has a regulars-pub feel but is very welcoming to visitors. Open after 4pm on weekdays and from noon on weekends it is opposite to a public seating area and next to a seafood restaurant. Perfect place to wait for a ferry to arrive. Does not serve food.

The Bay - A Mediterranean themed restaurant at Mo Tat Wan, this is one of the few choices in this small village which is accessible via the Sok Ku Wan ferry to Aberdeen.

Lamma Grill - Set back from the sea at Yeung Shue Wan this Authentic American Grill serves Gourmet burgers, gorgeous wraps, and seasoned fries.  Open 12pm to 10:30pm every day except Tuesday.

Shelly Cake Express - Locatd at 21 Back Street, Yung Shue Wan this european style cake shop serves at it's inside and outside tables, and also offers cake take away and custom orders. Open weekdays from 1:30pm until 9pm  and an hour earlier and later on weekends.
